The Swedish Chess Federation of Visually Impaired

Welcome to the homepage of the Swedish Chess Federation of Visually Impaired. 

The Swedish Chess Federation of Visually Impaired was founded in 1946. We are a member of IBCA, International Braille Chess Association.

Jörgen Magnusson Swedish champion 2011 

The Swedish championship for visually impaired 2011 was played on Scandic CH in Gävle from 10:th to 13:th of March. 20 players participated in three groups. Group 1 played for the championship in five rounds berger. Group 2 also played five rounds berger. Group 3, with 8 participants, played five rounds monrad. In thath group four players tied for first and had a play off the last day.

Swedens Patrik Berggren won in Dublin

Irish open for visually impaired was played on Marine hotel in Sutton Cross, Dublin, 1-4 October 2010. In the main group four players tied for first with 4,5/6: Patrik Berggren and Markus Berggren from Sweden and Michael Delany and Philip Doyle from Ireland. Patrik Berggren, Sweden, won on tiebreak points. Other Swedish players: Håkan Thomsson and Olle Engström took 3,5/6 and Richard Spele took 3,0/6. 20 players participated.

The group for lower rated players was won by Fredrik Ljungdahl, Sweden. He took 6,0/6. Other Swedish players: Bengt Eriksson and Hernan Sobredo took 3,0/6. 13 players participated.
 

Irish victory in correspondence chess

Sweden lost to Ireland 2,5-9,5 in the e-mail match for visually impaired which was played from November 2009 to August 2010.

JWCC 2009

The Junior World Chess Championship for visually impaired 2009 was held at Scandic hotel in Täby, Sweden, from 19:th to 25:th of June. The tournament was organized by the Swedish Chess Federation of Visually Impaired and main sponsor was Scandinavian Chess Tournament. 34 players from 16 nations took part in the tournament.

The winner was Daniel Pulvett from Venezuela with 6,0/7 followed by Stanislav Babarykin, Russia, Igor Khmelevskoy, Russia, and Markus Berggren, Sweden 5,5/7. JWCC 2009 for visually impaired
